The Errinundra Plateau Significant Regional Landscape is an area of botanical significance due to its species diversity and composition and possesses flora and fauna habitat values of national significance. Catchment and land system values are of at least State significance due to the potential for scientific and land-use research. Outstanding scenic and landscape values further enhance the signficance of the area.
Its botanical significance lies in the unique mature forest associations which represent undisturbed examples of the South-east Australian sclerophyll forest complex, and the large number of restricted or endemic species which occur in the region. Available evidence suggests that the plateau might have functioned as a refuge for flora and fauna during past climatic changes and it therefore has high biogeographical significance.
Note: Classified boundary varies from Errinundra National Park boundary.
