Statement of Significance

Wilsons Promontory is of considerable national importance. A large variety of vegetational types occur in the Park and these support a correspondingly wide diversity of fauna. Superlative epithets fail to do justice to its outstanding resources in scenery, geology, archaeology, vegetation, wildlife and potential for many forms of recreation. Wilsons Promontory has been aptly described as 'almost a type specimen of a national park'.
