Statement of Significance

Gellibrand Hill is of high significance in the Melbourne metropolitan region due to:

the scientific and educational importance of the remnant vegetation types found within the area;
the lack of semi-natural open space areas in the western suburbs that are available for recreation;
the visual prominance or "landmark" value of Gellibrand Hill and the panoramic views provided from the summit.

BOUNDARIES:

Generally located between Oaklands, Somerton and Providence Roads and the Moonee Ponds Creek in the Shire of Bulla. In addition, a small area of forest located within the Melbourne Airport is included.

Classified boundary varies from Woodlands Historic Park boundary.
