Statement of Significance

The original cast iron pavement verandah and posts greatly enhance this very attractive corner building which was designed by James McLeod in 1892 as a bakehouse, shop and residence for H H Smith, there are still some original interior fittings and on the splayed corner at first floor level there is an interesting wheat-sheaf motif in ornamental plaster.
