Statement of Significance

Five shops form an intersting combination of three two storey and two one storey buildings erected between 1884-1903 .Some shop fronts have been altered but the first floor elevations are mainly intact. The two end shops are two storey and they form suitable ends to this very attractive street-scape group. Individually Classified: 16/08/1979
File Note. The original cast iron pavement verandah to 149 has been demolished. Shopfronts to 149 &153 are mainly as originally designed. No 151 has an unusual and notable recessed, full width, first floor balcony. The two end shops, 147 and 155 were designed by Andrew Kerrin 1885 and 1884 respectively.
