Timber additions to the residence have been added which overlook the station master's yard and the bluestone lamp room/toilet block at the other end.
A bluestone goods shed of a unique design is situated at the north end of the platform. A corrugated iron waiting shelter faces the main building on the Up platform. The station verandah has been demolished .Taradale is a substantially intact example of the first standard station building erected for the Department. It is a simple design featuring stonework of an exacting standard complemented by finely tooled door and window surrounds and sills.
The complex of buildings at Taradale is unique and of great importance to the history of Victorian railway station architecture. This Classification includes the station building itself, the goods shed, the lamp room/toilet block, the waiting shelter and the three bluestone platforms.
