'Talerddig' is a single storied house built during 1868-69 for moulder
Allen Ramsay. Some front rooms were added in 1881 and the living room in
1890. The dwelling is constructed in face brickwork. The encircling
timber and iron verandah is the main feature of the house. Other
features are the projecting bay window and the front door.
'Talerddig' forms part of the important historic townscape of
Castlemaine. Architecturally, the essential Boom Style house is fairly
typical, yet exhibits elements of the conservative classical revival
period; notably the entrance and the bay windows to the verandah. The
elevated floor level is unusual and of note, asare the patterns of the
frieze and brackets and also the balustrade detailing.
'Talerddig' is largely intact and in good condition.
