Statement of Significance

Finely sited single storey bluestone house built c.1859 for pioneer settler John Sherwin on U-shaped plan with gables at front and sides, rare service courtyard and separate octagonal bluestone gazebo or dairy. The decorative barge-boards are intact but the timber front verandah with elaborate gothic Revival detail has been demolished. Garden stonework and iron front gate are included.
