This pre 1922 simple country building complex is a rare example of a small town industrial centre which was, and still is, the focus for a range of industries which included cartage of salt, water and wheat, ice works, rabbit chilling, farm implement repairs, welding, motor repairs and engineers, car and tractor dealers and associated trades. The powerhouse was one of the last private suppliers in the state and retains much of its machinery in working order. It is one of only two left in the Mallee district. The associated freezing, chilling and ice works are in good condition and are a fitting example of a now scarce industrial site.
