Lightstation group consisting of 79 ft tower; headkeepers' and assistant keepers' quarters; storeroom (former stables); all constructed of stone; and octagonal timber lookout (former telegraph and signal station); all 1884.
Timber framed and asbestos cement sheeted engine house (1960) and metal garages are excluded.
The group is linked by rendered stone walling and although dispersed over the headland is uniformly painted white and contrasts crisply with the surrounding low coastal scrubland.
The cast iron staircase in the tower has no central column, and the landings are supported on cast brackets. The windows in the shaft of the tower retain their original tubular ventilators with draught dampers.
The cast iron external lantern gallery is supported on cast brackets and the balustrade around the lower balcony is of a typical cast post and rail pattern.
The interior of the lantern room is finely detailed and well maintained with bracketed cast iron lantern walkway and polished brass ventilators.
