Statement of Significance

This property is significant for the garden which surrounds it. The garden was designed by Edna Walling in the 1930's for the then owners Mr and Mrs Andrew Manifold. Walling's drawing for the gardens are still extant. The garden was constructed by Eric Hammond and features several distinct areas, including a rose garden, semi-circular stone retaining walls and a natrual garden. Natural boulders in this area have been chosen to contrast with the dressed stonework in the more formal areas.

The garden is important for asethetic characterisitcs created by design technique and demostratess a high degree of creative and technical achievement. The garden is importnat for its association with the renowned Australian landscape designer, Edna Walling.
