Statement of Significance

A complex of 1887 by the architect Harry Browse Gibbs, distinctive in details like the bracketted verges with turned-down ends on the high gabled facade of the central block and its geometrically complicated brick window heads, and on the flanking pavilions the half-hipped roofs, corbelled chimney backs, decorative chimney pots, and verge boards with pendant oculi. Modern additions including the porch and infilled section of the facade, are excluded.
