Statement of Significance

Originally an outstation of 'Purrumbete', Wiridgil was probably first settled in the 1850's. On inheriting the property in 1895, Edward Manifold commissioned Alexander Hamilton to construct a residence and stables.The house is of rough faced bluestone with smooth dressed quoins at the corner junctions. The west wing was a later addtion by Guy Purchas in 1907. The house is still owned and occupied by members of the Manifold family.
