Statement of Significance

This 1930s style locally designed and built butter factory building is situated one block back from the main street of Apollo Bay on a prominent corner site. The only processing plant in the town, the building is unique in its environment for the use of the strong curved facade and the powerful red bricks. The site, located on the coast to enable sea transport of produce together with the location of its suppliers, hidden in the valley and ranges of the Otways, makes it atypical for a Western District butter factory.
