The Gunbower Cooperative Butter Factory and Trading Company is significant historically at a local level as a large business in a small country town and as a representative example of a medium sized dairy industry in a region now dominated by huge dairy manufacturing plants. Architecturally the building gains significance by its placement along the Murray Valley Highway close to the road and among housing development. The domestic nature of its design reflects the neighbouring homes and enables its current use as a private home to be less obtrusive than in many other conversions of a similar nature.
