Statement of Significance

A three-storey stuccoed brick hotel of 1863 built with an interesting early and Italianate facade. It was built to cater for the average citizen who had business in a goldrush city. The interior is intact on the upper floor but it does not live up to the promise of the front and is a simple and typical interior of the period. It has lost a ground floor verandah that allowed for first floor accesson to it.
