Statement of Significance

A typical two-storey red brick educational building of the turn of the century. It is substantially intact, apart from the paintwork (the front elevation has been sand blasted), the entrance door and the removal of the roof finials. It provides an important streetscape element to this section of Lydiard Street and is in good condition. It is of local interest as the School of Mines has had a long history and has played an important part in the spread of mining expertise to elsewhere in Australia.
