Blythvale Homestead, Streatham, is a rambling, single storied homestead dating essentially from the 1860s, although portions may be older and subsequent alterations have been made. Built for John Ritchie, Blythvale is largely stuccoed with some rusticated stone walls, including the double storied portion which has a balustraded parpet and a balconnied portico. There are various bay windows and projecting wings and a cast iron verandah. Blythvale Homestead, Streatham, is a homestead with historical associations with the settlement of the surrounding district and is architecturally notable for its composition and particularly the double storied portion. Parts of the structure may date from the 1840's. The storied section, with its portico and uncommon, for domestic work, balustrade of round arches. The contrasting rusticated upper storey and parapet is also unusual. Blythvale Homestead, Streatham, has been extensively added to and altered and is in fair to good condition.
