Statement of Significance

A brick church which gains considerable character from the colour and texture of the early brickwork and which was begun in 1861 to the design of Leonard Terry. The completion of the nave, chancel and transepts came later, and the porch is of a more modern character and detracts from the appearance of the liturgical west front.
