Statement of Significance

This work has significance for its reference to two well known names associated with Eltham and its history. Alan Marshall is a famous author who both lived and worked in the Shire, and as a Skipper, Marcus represents a very well respected family of artists associated with Monsalvat. The sculpture fits into its surroundings adjacent to the library. The artist has created a realistic statue of the author Alan Marshall, and the public can readily relate to the work. The sculpture is cast in bronze with green patination and is in excellent condition.
