Statement of Significance

A handsome Mechanics Institute of squared limestone in Italianate style. It has a porch and corner pilasters of stucco. Built in 1876/77 (although it had previously been listed as1884), with an extension to the left-hand side in 1895. Later used as the Nepean Historical Society's museum.
