Statement of Significance

A hotel built in 1877 with an early licence from 1858, originally named the Schnapper Point Hotel - it was renamed after a visit by Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh in 1876. The hotel was once a depot for Cobb & Co.

Defacement of the West front by alterations were altered with restoration of the hotel taking place using original photos as a guide in 1986.
