The 1924 Fitzroy weighbridge is of historical, scientific (technical), and social (educational potential) significance at the regional level because it demonstrates weighbridge technology that was 'state of the art' in the first decade of the twentieth century and remained in use on the Victorian Railways for about 80 years.
Although removed from its original context and without its original cabin or weighbridge pit, it has the potential to be restored to working order as a museum exhibit designed to allow the workings of the normally hidden lever system and head components to be viewed in action.
