Statement of Significance

Two terraces which in association with the planting in Sydney Road, especially well exemplify this building type and illustrate typical developments in design between 1878, when Park Terrace was built in a simple rectilinear mode and 1887 when Trinity Terrace was built with arched openings, opera box balcony iron, elaborate iron friezes without timber divisions and extravagant parapet decoration in the manner of Norman Hitchcock, who was the probable architect and was on other occasions associated with the builder Herbert Hart, who himself occupied Nos 157 and 163 successively.
