Statement of Significance

Originally built for James Brisbane in about 1854 and known as 'Brisbane's Farm', it was extended in the 1880's and a surround verandah was added in the 1940's. It was occupied at one time by James Buchanan, MLC, who on his death in 1914, bequeathed the house for use as a mansein perpetuity to the Presbyterian Church in Berwick. An interesting feature of the house, is the bath carved out of a solid block of stone.
