Statement of Significance

This is the remaining rear portion of a massive warehouse that extended through to Flinders Street. Built for the wholesale importer Sargood, Butler, Nichol and Ewen Ltd. It was designed by the Sydney architects, Sulman and Power and built in 1898-99. It is a most important reminder of the large houses of commerce that occupied the city around Princes Bridge at the turn of the century.
