Statement of Significance

Designed by N Hitchcock and built in 1886 by N Kingston for William Henry Welch, this two storey group of four shops with residences over has a very elaborately decorated facade with unusual coupled windows sharing a richly detailed curved pediment. The two storey brick structures to each house at the rear are largely intact externally. The front ground floor doors and windows have been drastically altered and there is a very unsympathetic cantilevered awning.
