Statement of Significance

A significant street of 19th century housing still largely intact, with examples from each decade in the street's development. This is one of the best coherent areas of 19th century terrace housing in Melbourne and represents the variety of types, styles and standards common to the period. Of particular note within the area is the diversity of architectural ornament and stylistic treatment, the collection of cast iron ornament, and examples of housing which was remodelled during the century in response to changing tastes and rising aspirations.
