Statement of Significance

An early example of a building intended to take advantage of the government 's funding for schools, but designed in the manner of a church except for the square-headed tudor windows. The nave of 1855 was by the then favoured Roman Catholic architects George & Schneider, and the church form was completed with the transepts and apse added by others in 1866.
