Statement of Significance

A pair of boom period buildings with elaborate shop window glazing incorporating coloured glass and pointed arches, an upper storey of Venetian Gothic window arcading, sculptured heads and an elaborate parapet surmounted by four Kangaroo-like chimeras. Noted that the Carlton Club was the first occupant of part of the building.
