The Mont Park Hospital Block, constructed in 1924-25 for the Public Works Department by R.A. Dixon and Son from the designs of the architect, E Evan Smith, has local significance as a notable element within this important hospital complex in its park-like settings. It is significant as one of the four original group of buildings, constructed to provide a range of patient facilities between 1913 and 1925. The two-storey rendered brick building with its central open verandah has architectural singificance as a classically-inspired stripped example of a transitional style bridging Federation and Colonial Georgian Revival; and as a forerunner to E. Evan Smith's more familiar idiom of the Colonial Georgian Revival. The form of its structure and details of the front elevation remaining substantially as built. The building is notable, also, for its interesting window detailing and its interior leadlight window observation screen walls.
