Statement of Significance

The Queen's Warehouse was erected in 1890 for H.M. Customs. It is two storey, of brick with cast iron internal columns, in the American Romanesque Style and was designed by the Public Works Department.
It is one of the first buildings to be carried out in this distinctive style and is believed to be the individual work of A. J. McDonald , also architect for the similarly styled Omeo Post Office.
The slate roof has been replaced, some of the timber floor has been replaced with concrete and other internal & external changes have been made that are not included.
