Statement of Significance

Stained Glass "Scenes from Life & Ministry of Christ". The four "4-panel" sections of the South Wall and the windows now installed in the porch are the major featues of the rather unattractive and poorly constructed (yet apparently much cared for) cream brick building (1961). In toto they represent works created by the artist over a period of more than 3 decades and during several when the art of stained glass in Austrlia had sunk into decline. On reviewing them recently the artist was "agreeably surprised" at the sections already in situ; considering their design quality to reach his usual standards. Together the four existing sections form a continuous frieze along the South Wall where they receive rather insufficient light to fulfill their potential for more than several hours per day. The composition features large figure groups against a semi-abstract background in which the artist has incorporated a quantity of commercial (or Cathedral) glass which sits well within the design format.
