Statement of Significance

A house which makes the most unconventional use of the renaissance classical vocabulary in such details as the antae flanking the facade and the projecting window bays, all of which use almost the full height but stop abruptly below cornice level; the round-cornered window heads suggestive of arches; the stilted effect given by the short Corinthian pillars serve as mullions; and the rounded chamfers used on these pillars and elsewhere.
Noted that the verandah and balcony has been taken off the facade, the verandah foundations and tiled pavement and driveway gateposts completely removed, the height of the picket fence lowered and the porch constructed within the last twenty years.
