What is significant?
The Dowling House, constructed c.1925 at 82 Major Road, Fawkner.

How is it significant?
The Dowling House at 82 Major Road, Fawkner is of local historic significance and aesthetic significance to the City of Moreland

Why is it significant?
Of historic significance for its association with the Dowling family who were a pioneer farming family in the district. It is the only building associated with the Dowling family known to survive. (AHC Criteria A.4 & H.1)

Of aesthetic significance as a reasonably intact and representative example of a Californian Bungalow, a type that is relatively rare in Fawkner. (AHC Criterion E.1)
