What is significant?
The cottage at 20 Anketell Street, Coburg (otherwise known as 'Erindale') is significant. The form of the Victorian Georgian cottage is significant, as well as the bluestone build, slate roof and brick chimneys. The rear extension, garage and front boundary fence are not significant.

How is it significant?
Erindale is of local historical, aesthetic and associative significance, and has rarity value, to the City of Moreland.

Why is it significant?
Erindale is historically significant as a very early bluestone cottage with elements dating back to 1845. It was also the home of Charles Thornton, formerly a warder at HMAS Pentridge Prison. (Criterion A)
The 1845 bluestone Victorian Georgian cottage is rare example of this type within the municipality. (Criterion B)
The place has aesthetic significance as a bluestone Victorian Georgian house. Although it has been modified and is missing some key elements, the form and key materiality of the dwelling remains intact and is aesthetically important. (Criterion E)
