Historically, it provides evidence of the prominence of the Masonic organisation as a local centre for male-oriented social, charitable and recreational activity in the early twentieth century, which has abated somewhat in more recent decades. (AHC Criterion G.1)
Architecturally it is significant as the temple is an intact and representative example of its type, with typical classical-derived composition and detailing. It remains as a prominent element in the streetscape. (AHC Criterion E.1)
