The Brunswick Road Precinct, Brunswick is of local historical significance as a fashionable part of Brunswick that was established in the late 19th and early 20th century by a significant proportion of middle class and white collar residents. Brunswick was a predominately working class industrial suburb at the time, however Brunswick Road was a desirable residential location because of its proximity to Royal Park. Also within the precinct is one of the earliest clothing factories in Brunswick that dates back to 1908. The Brunswick Road Precinct, Brunswick is of local architectural significance for its mix of typically large Victorian and Edwardian houses of various scales, which maintains cohesion of building materials, setbacks, and landscaping. The former Henderson's Shirt Factory located at 337-339 Brunswick Road is a modified Classical style building and also contributes to the high quality of the surrounding building stock. Relatively grand terraces for Brunswick such as those at 327-329 and 341 Brunswick Road, and large detached houses similar to 325 Brunswick Road which were erected in the early 20th Century provide focus for the precinct.
