The ruins are of stone, and the roof has been removed. The walls are unstable and there are woody weeds overtaking the site. The school started in 1864, as the proposed township began to grow, and the large families located on the Cape felt that the existing Lower Bridgewater School (no. 32) was too far to travel. It is not known who constructed the building, but it was likely to have been local stone mason Joshua Black. The ruin has potential to yeild much archaelogical information.
