Why are they significant?
The houses at 1, 3 and 5 Dickens Street, Moonee Ponds, built in
1890 are significant. The original Victorian era form, materials and
detailing contribute to the significance of the place.
The houses at 1, 3 and 5 Dickens Street, Moonee Ponds are of
aesthetic significance to the City of Moonee Valley.
Architecturally, they are highly representative of the born period
(Criterion D), their grouping as three detached houses rather than as
a terrace being of interest. Aesthetically, they make an important
contribution to the historic nineteenth century character of the
Dickens Street precinct (Criterion E). Their importance in this
respect is enhanced by their intact state.
