Statement of Significance

"Grey Court" at 42 Brewster Street, Essendon, was erected by the builder, Roy Shankland, in 1930. It is aesthetically important (Criterion E) as a small Mediterranean villa of the inter war period distinguished by its successful exploitation of the Palladian window motif in the design of its loggia and reflected in the facade fenestration.
