How is it significant?
This tree is significant at Regional Level due to its size, age, as a source of propagation material, and contribution to the landscape.
Why is it significant?
This very healthy tree is the largest, both in height and span, and the oldest Yellow Box  that has been surveyed by Maldon Urban Landcare, who have surveyed 86 Yellow Box
trees since 2017.
This Yellow Box, with an estimated age of 610 years, is a stunning example of a remnant eucalypt, and it makes a very significant contribution to the surrounding
landscape. Land use in the Harcourt area by European settlers in the 1850’s was focused on land clearing and pastoral activities, followed by the establishment of orchards, and much of today’s native tree cover, in the patches where it occurs, is regrowth or coppiced eucalypts. The health of the canopy of this Yellow Box is such that it provides a great habitat for various native fauna.
