How is it significant?
This smooth-barked apple is significant for its outstanding size, its good form, its contribution to the landscape of the street, and as a good example of the species, at the Regional level.
Why is it significant?
Part of an avenue of trees along Iramoo Street, mostly made up of smooth-barked apples, this tree has the largest stem girth in the avenue. Its crown spreads broadly over the street, footpath and adjoining properties. The tree contributes significant amenity to the streetscape and the surrounding neighbourhood. The avenue planting also represents the shift to native street tree plantings in this part of Melbourne during the mid-1900s.
