This tree is significant for its outstanding example of the species, outstanding size (all dimensions), landscape contribution, and potential use for the collection of propagation material reasons at the State level. 

This example is significant as one of the earliest planted examples in Victoria.  Although the species is less common in the landscape, it is not considered rare. Henry Campy is noted as being the builder of “Nandi” in 1876. The tree planting is likely to be associated with this date highlighting the age of the tree. 

 

The nominator makes a notable observation about this tree “One of the most impressive features of this tree is its form and structure - it has an extensive network of branches with a beautiful rounded and symmetrical shape all of which sits about two meters above ground level, allowing one to walk under the tree and experience the beautiful canopy above”. 

 

The tree is indeed a magnificent example with a dense uniform crown and substantial single trunk and branching habit that is equally substantial. The tree is good overall condition and is expected to offer many more years of amenity to the property.
