What is significant?
The Kanooka is a significant feature tree in the Royal Botanic Gardens, located in the Guilfoyle Lawn area close to the walking path on the western edge of the lawn (south eastern section of the gardens, close to Gate D).

This Kanooka is significant for Scientific (Horticultural/ Genetic, Outstanding Size, Outstanding Example of the Species), Social (Location/ Context, Landmark Tree) and Aesthetic (Attractive, Unusual form) reasons at the State level. 
Why is it significant?
The Kanooka is an outstanding example of the species for its large size and multi trunked form (9 trunks). It makes a significant contribution to the Royal Botanic Gardens landscape providing a contrasting shape and foliage colour to other trees in the landscape. The unusually multi trunked form provides for an important source for propagation material.
