What is significant?
An individual Eucalyptus cephalocarpa (Silver-leaf Stringybark), known locally as the Grandparent Tree, located at the rear of the Little Yarra Steiner School, near the north-eastern corner by the creek.
How is it significant?
The tree is significant for scientific and aesthetic reasons at the Regional level.
Why is it significant?
Known as the Grandparent Tree, this tree of is of scientific and aesthetic significance for being an above average example of the species, and the largest known of this species in the region. It is twice as tall as the one other example of the species on the Register (located in Rowville) and has an attractive form.
Anecdotally, the tree is also significant habitat for fauna in the area.
