Why is it significant?
This Moreton Bay Fig is scientifically significant for its outstanding size and form and is an outstanding example of the species. Its circumference is one of the largest on the Register as well as the canopy spread. The tree is also socially significant for its contribution to the landscape of the town and Mactier Gardens. It has been a part of the Tatura community for approximately 120 years and was once in a prominent position near the railway station and the local park where many community events took place.
