This Monterey Pine is scientifically significant for its large size in the western region of Melbourne taking into consideration the climate and conditions. It is also a good example of the species as it doesn’t have thinning or dieback at the top of the canopy which is unusual. It is significant for its contribution to the historic landscape of Werribee Park as an original
Chirnside planting from the 1870's. Many of the pines in the Werribee vicinity have died or been cleared making this an even rarer specimen.
