Why is it significant?
The avenue is historically significant for being on the grounds of Bon Accord Homestead which is a significant property in Sale with a Heritage Overlay (HO87). The Homestead was constructed in the 1860s and is one of the oldest homes in Sale.
This avenue is significant for its contribution to the landscape. The trees and surrounding gardens were planted approximately in the 1880s-90s. They reflect the popular horticultural design of the late Victorian period most likely inspired by William Robert Guilfoyle. The avenue compliments the historic context of the homestead and property.
