In 1971 Forest Glade was acquired by Cyril Stokes. The gardens were developed significantly in the 1970s, but the Ash Wednesday bushfires of 1983 decimated much of the original gardens. Post-fire, the owners embarked on a large planting program across the property, developing the gardens into a noteworthy collection of cool climate plants.
